【摘要】:Thistestmethoddescribesthegeneralrequirementsforevaluatingthelong-term,chlorinatedwater,oxidativeresistanceofcross-linkedpolyethylene(PEX)tubingproducedinaccordancewithSpecificationF876orPEXtubing/fittingsystemsinaccordancewithSpecificationF877usedinhot-and-coldwaterdistributionsystemsbyexposuretohot,chlorinatedwater.Thistestmethodoutlinestherequirementsofapressurizedflow-throughtestsystem,typicaltestpressures,test-fluidcharacteristics,failuretype,anddataanalysis.Note1-Otherknowndisinfectingsystems(chlorinedioxide,ozone,andchloramines)arealsousedforprotectionofpotablewater.Free-chlorineisthemostcommondisinfectantinusetoday.APPIresearchprojectexaminedtherelativeaggressivenessoffreechlorineandchloraminesonPEXpipes,bothathesame4.0ppmconcentrationandthesametesttemperatures.Theresultsofthetestingshowedpipefailuretimesapproximately40%longerwhentestedwithchloraminescomparedtotestingwithfreechlorine,atthetestedconditions.Basedontheseresults,thedatasuggeststhatchloraminesarelessaggressivethanfreechlorinetoPEXpipes.Guidelinesandrequirementsfortesttemperatures,testhoopstresses,andothertestcriteriahavebeenestablishedbypriortestingofPEXtubingproducedbythethreemostcommoncommercialmethodsofcross-linking:silane,peroxide,andelectron-beam(seeNote2).OtherrelatedsystemcomponentsthattypicallyappearinaPEXhot-and-coldwaterdistributionsystemcanbeevaluatedwiththePEXtubing.WhentestingPEXtubingandfittingsasasystem,itisrecommendedthattheanticipatedend-usefittingtype(s)andmaterial(s)beincludedinthetestcircuitsinceitisknownthatsomefittingtypesandmaterialscanimpactfailuretimes.Specimensusedshallberepresentativeofthepipingproduct(s)andmaterial(s)underinvestigation.Note2-Theproceduresdescribedinthistestmethod(withsomemodificationsoftesttemperaturesorstresses,orboth)havebeenusedtoevaluatepipesmanufacturedfrompolybutylene(PB),polyethylene(PE),polypropylene(PP),multilayer(polymer-metalcomposite),copper,andstainlesssteel.ThistestmethodisapplicabletoPEXtubingandsystemsusedfortransportofpotablewatercontainingfree-chlorinefordisinfectingpurposes.Theoxidizingpotentialofthetest-fluidspecifiedinthistestmethodexceedsthattypicallyfoundinpotablewatersystemsacrosstheUnitedStates.Thevaluesstatedininch-poundunitsaretoberegardedasthestandard.Thevaluesgiveninparenthesesareforinformationpurposes.Thefollowingprecautionarycaveatpertainsonlytothetestmethodportion,Section12,ofthisspecification.Thisstandarddoesnotpurporttoaddressallofthesafetyconcerns,ifany,associatedwithitsuse.Itistheresponsibilityoftheuserofthisstandardtoestablishappropriatesafetyandhealthpracticesanddeterminetheapplicabilityofregulatorylimitationspriortouse.
