【摘要】:ThisInternationalStandardspecifies:—theproceduretobeusedingatheringtheinformationneededtorequeststandardizationofgraphicalsymbols;—themethodtobeusedintestingwhichvariantofagraphicalsymbolisjudgedthemostcomprehensible;and—themethodtobeusedintestingtheextenttowhichavariantofagraphicalsymbolcommunicatesitsintendedmessage.ThepurposeofthisInternationalStandardistoensurethatgraphicalsymbols,andsignsusinggraphicalsymbols,arereadilyunderstood.ItinnowayensuresthatprohibitionsorwarningsusinggraphicalsymbolsorsymbolsignsdesignedinaccordancewiththisInternationalStandardwill,onceunderstood,becompliedwith.NOTEAppropriateattitudesandmotivationarerequiredbeforecompliancewithanysignwillresult.Apictorialsignisnotintendedasaneasyalternativetosurveillance,physicalbarriers,education,orothermeansofachievingasafesituation.
