【摘要】:Thisspecificationcoverscarbonsteelshapes,plates,andbarsofstructuralqualityforuseinriveted,bolted,orweldedconstructionofbridgesandbuildings,andforgeneralstructuralpurposes.Supplementaryrequirementsareprovidedforusewhereadditionaltestingoradditionalrestrictionsarerequiredbythepurchaser.Suchrequirementsapplyonlywhenspecifiedinthepurchaseorder.Whenthesteelistobewelded,aweldingproceduresuitableforthegradedofsteelandintendeduseorserviceistobeuntilized.SeeAppendixX3ofSpecificationA6/A6Mforinformationonweldability.Thevaluesstatedineitherinch-poundunitsorSIunitsareshowninbrackets.Thevaluesstatedineachsystemarenotexactequivalents;therefore,eachsystemistobeusedindependentlyoftheother,withoutcombiningvaluesinanyway.Thetextofthisspecificationcontainsnotesorfootnotes,orboth,thatprovideexplanatorymaterial.Suchnotesandfootnotes,excludingthoseintablesandfigures,donotcontainanymandatoryrequirements.Forstructuralproductsproducedfromcoilandfurnishedwithoutheattreatmentorwithstressrelievingonly,theadditionalrequirements,includingadditionaltestingrequirementsandthereportingofadditionaltestresults,ofA6/A6Mapply.
